The feeling that it’s all about you as a driver. This was the idea that guided the CUPRA team to create a new design concept for the interior of its 100% electric model, the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept. “Its interior is designed to maximise emotions and turn driving into a full on experience” says the brand’s Design Director, Jorge Diez. A world of emotions at your fingertips.
A new design concept. “When designing the electric car of the future, we have to change all the established codes and create a car for the drivers of tomorrow” says Jorge Diez. And that new generation “has been born into a world where the Internet offers instant thrills at the click of a button. Their car has to give them that same feeling through a ground-breaking design that they feel is theirs” he adds.
The driver, the centre of the world. In this renewed approach, the main interior design concept of the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept has been to put the focus on the driver, creating an asymmetrical space to place them at the centre. “At CUPRA we love driving and that’s why all the elements are aimed at the protagonist, the driver” says the Design Director. Two of these elements are the dual screens that pop up at the touch of a button. “With these LED displays, the driver has all the information he or she needs for driving. Together with the Head-Up Display system, these make driving the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept a unique emotional experience” says Jorge.
The electric car of the next generation. With a view to the next generation, the interior of the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept is characterised by a gaming aesthetic, with elements that raise its value with parametric design, enhanced by the use of interior lighting that blends sportiness with video game culture. “We constantly kept the next generation in mind when designing the interior of the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept, so we came up with a colour palette for the interior lighting that accentuates the link to the virtual world, with purples and greens, as well as highlighting other interior elements such as the floating console.” The striking colours also take on a new prominence in sculptural design seats in fluorine colour, which are custom-made using 3D knitting techniques, applying the latest technologies in the design of more sustainable parts.
Ready for the game to begin. The central element that sets the CUPRA UrbanRebel Concept’s interior apart is its steering wheel, where the two worlds meet again. “It’s a ground-breaking design with a flat bottom that gives it a sportier feel. In addition, we’ve added multiple buttons for a distinct controller look” says Jorge. An interior designed to make driving CUPRA’s future electric city car pure driving excitement.
