CUPRA Leon VZ TCR customers have won different championships already in 2024, including TCR Europe and TCR Mexico, on top of claiming race wins in every single championship that it took part. It has also competed in the FIA Motorsport Games taking the podium last year. And in 2025 the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR makes its debut in Asia in the TCR China and in the USA, competing in the challenging IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
“Since its introduction, the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR has proven itself to be an incredibly competitive race car. It builds on the competitive racing spirit that drives the brand to challenge the best,” says Xavi Serra, Global Head of Racing at CUPRA. “In 2024 it solidified its place on racetracks around the world, catching podiums, wins and championships, and it’s ready to do even better in 2025.”
Launched in May 2024, the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR builds on the brand’s racing DNA. New bodywork, aligned with CUPRA’s new design language, a redefined front axle setup, SADEV gearbox upgrade kit, high-end suspension, and interior improvements, all contributed to its success around the world.
The CUPRA Leon VZ TCR has over 46 races under its belt, including victory in Mexico in the TCR Mexico Sprint and in the TCR Mexico Endurance, and in the TCR Europe Series driven by Franco Girolami, from the Monlau Motorsport Team, as well as competing at circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and Imola (Italy).
At the end of 2024 it took part in the FIA Motorsport Games as one of the eligible cars for the teams participating in the Touring Car competition, one of the most prestigious international racing events, where national federations compete in different categories to become the winning country. The Brazilian team took the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR to second on the podium, while the Spanish team fought for a podium position all weekend, before finishing in a respectable P4.
As part of the racing event, the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR used fuel that contained 50% advanced sustainable components, reducing the race cars and the event’s carbon footprint.
And 2025 is due to be another competitive year with new competitions to take on. The CUPRA Leon VZ TCR will arrive in Asia in the TCR China and in North America as part of one of the most important historical competitions in the United States of America, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. A race that features WSC Touring Car Racing homologated models with engines tuned to produce between 300 and 350 horsepower, and reaching more than 260 km/h.
Teams participating in the championship will have the opportunity to choose the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR as their competing car over the 11 races in the calendar, with the first race to be held at the famous Daytona International Speedway circuit in Florida (Jan 22-26).
