With ‘La Mercè ens mou’ as its starting point, CASA CUPRA Raval is gearing up for a September in which La Mercè will take centre stage, with a special programme bringing together music, conversations, comedy, poetry, electric mobility and sport. An agenda that taps into the city’s energy and brings the spirit of Barcelona to the heart of CASA CUPRA Raval.
At the same time, the galactic saga exhibition, REBELS BEYOND THE GALAXY, enters its final weeks after welcoming more than 60.000 visitors, and will remain open free of charge until September 22.
CASA CUPRA Talk
The programme will kick off on September 2 at 7:00 p.m. with a conversation featuring renowned physician and researcher Dr. Bonaventura Clotet, President of the Fight Against Infections Foundation, and Dr. Lluïsa Pedro-Botet, a leading expert in infectious diseases. Together, they will address one of the major public health challenges of our time: antibiotic resistance.
On September 7 at 7:00 p.m., in collaboration with HIGHXTAR, CASA CUPRA Raval will bring together two artists and leading figures from the urban music scene of different generations: Leïti and Mala Rodríguez. Moderated by Genís Pena, Project Manager at Gallery Sessions, the conversation will see both artists discuss their current projects and reflect on the evolution of the music industry and Barcelona’s creative scene. LEÏTI arrives with his fourth studio album, SENE KOR SENE, while Mala Rodríguez will make the event one of the first promotional stops for her upcoming album.
Architecture will take centre stage on September 8 at 7:00 p.m. with ‘Arquitectura de las galaxias’, a session led by Pau M. Just, an architect and communicator who has turned films, TV series, music videos and popular culture into a way of bringing architecture closer to wider audiences.
The conversation around architecture will continue on September 14 at 6:30 p.m. with a new edition of Moments Estel·lars, presented by The New Barcelona Post, dedicated to ‘How to communicate architecture’. Hosted by Toni Aira, the session will bring together Pol Casellas, architect, communicator and presenter of Sota la pell de la ciutat on Betevé; Ana María Álvarez, Communications Director at 48h Open House Barcelona; and Oriol Marín, technical architect and lecturer at the UPC, to explore how architecture helps tell the story of the city. The event will conclude with a special tour of CASA CUPRA Raval led by Pol Casellas and inspired by the Sota la pell de la ciutat format.
In addition, as a prelude to the 2026 Sitges – Catalonia International Fantastic Film Festival, on September 3 at 12:00 p.m., CASA CUPRA Raval will host the press conference presenting the 59th edition of the festival. The event, presented by its Artistic Director, Ángel Sala, and Foundation Director, Mònica Garcia i Massagué, will unveil the titles, sections, activities, special guests and content that will shape the programme of this new edition.
RAVAL MUSIC SESSION
The special La Mercè programme will bring the month to a musical close on September 23 at 7:30 p.m., with Ciutat, the project by Jordi and Guillem (JP Sunshine and Guim), two names closely linked to the club scene who explore a freer, more unhurried and personal approach to music.
With roots in the Mainline collective and a career that includes projects such as Brandon and Ciutat l’Amistat, Ciutat has created a sonic universe where 90s textures, immersive melodies, bird samples and a danceable pulse that emerges when least expected come together.
LIVE PODCAST
CASA CUPRA Raval will once again open its doors to the Live Podcast format, in collaboration with RPS Music, on September 18 at 6:30 p.m. On this occasion, Pol Batlle, one of the artists who will be part of La Mercè’s official programme, will discuss his musical projects, his relationship with Barcelona and the role of the city in today’s cultural scene.
CASA CUPRA Arts
On September 9 at 7:30 p.m., the agenda will feature a comedy session with a Stand-up Comedy performance by Guillem Estadella. A comedian, presenter and one of the most recognisable voices on the radio, Estadella will bring his unique take on everyday life and turn it into comedy through an intimate, spontaneous and unfiltered performance.
The programme will come to a close on September 26 at 12:30 p.m. with a more performative proposal, as part of the NUDO poetry festival. Poet and performing artist Elsa Moreno will present INMANECER in Barcelona for the first time, a newly created philosophical concept that explores, through poetry, spoken word and movement, self-awareness, our relationship with others and dialogue with nature.
BOOK PRESENTATION
Literature will also have its place in the September programme with the presentation of El Tren de la Mitjanit by Matt Haig, as part of the programme of the Setmana del Llibre en Català. A global literary phenomenon with more than twelve million copies sold worldwide, the story invites readers to reflect on the infinite possibilities a life can take and has resonated with readers around the world. The event will feature the author himself, Matt Haig, who will share details of the book with the audience, as well as the key factors behind its international success.
RUNNING TRAINING
On 22 September, the CUPRA Running Tribe returns to bring its rebellious spirit to the streets of Barcelona. As part of CASA CUPRA Raval’s special programme for La Mercè, this edition, in collaboration with Estrella Damm, a long-standing partner of the CUPRA RUNNING TRIBE through Free Damm, will also join the celebration of the brand’s 150th anniversary, with the Antiga Fàbrica Estrella Damm serving as the meeting point. The route will also pass by the Sagrada Família, paying tribute to the centenary of Antoni Gaudí’s death.
An experience that brings together sport, community and the city, offering a different way to discover Barcelona through one of its most iconic architectural landmarks and experience La Mercè, as part of such a special celebration for a brand so closely connected to the city.
URBAN MOBILITY
On September 19, CASA CUPRA Raval will host a new edition of Electric Saturday as part of the La Mercè programme, an experience that offers attendees the opportunity to discover CUPRA’s electric mobility universe first-hand.
The main highlight of this edition will be the fact that the new CUPRA Raval will be available for the first time to test-drive on the streets of the city, giving attendees the opportunity to experience what it is like to drive CUPRA’s new 100% electric model.
In addition, as part of Mobility Week, on September 21 at 6:30 p.m., a new event focused on electrification will take place: ‘Electric Mobility: Three Visions to Rethink the Future’. The session will bring together three projects and three different approaches to rethinking how we move: Zephyr Boats, Talgo and CUPRA. Gemma Pagès and Romà Pueyo will present the Zephyr 900 Eco, while Toni Clariana, from Magma Design, will share the creative process behind Talgo’s Avril. The journey will continue with the CUPRA design team, who will showcase the brand’s vision of electric mobility and design through the CUPRA Raval. Three perspectives, one shared horizon: moving towards a more electric, sustainable mobility model that is connected to the needs of the future.
