The SEAT CUPRA Foundation has donated two CUPRA Borns and two CUPRA Tavascans to Barcelona’s Sant Joan de Déu Hospital to strengthen their at-home medical care services for children and young people. The vehicles will support crisis intervention programmes and complex cases, specialised units for treating severe addictions –known as guide teams–, and care for patients with eating disorders.

The donation ceremony was attended by Dr. Patricia Such, Director of the SEAT CUPRA Foundation Board of Trustees, and Dr. Manel del Castillo, Director of Barcelona’s Sant Joan de Déu Hospital.

“We are firm believers that wellbeing and health services should be accessible to everyone, expecially to younger generations. That is why we wish to support healthcare centres and contribute to strengthening the country’s health system,” said Dr. Patricia Such. “We are proud to provide Sant Joan de Déu Hospital –internationally recognised for its high level of expertise in treating and researching complex pediatric diseases– with two CUPRA Borns and two CUPRA Tavascans to improve care for young patients at home,” she added.

“For years, Sant Joan de Déu Hospital has been developing a new model of care focused on offering the best possible support to patients and their families. This approach often means going beyond hospital walls. It is what we have called a “Liquid Hospital”, a concept that perfectly fits the “Health on e-wheels” project led by the SEAT CUPRA Foundation,” said Dr. Manel del Castillo.

Health on e-wheels: advancing home healthcare

The donation of these vehicles to Sant Joan de Déu is part of the SEAT Foundation’s “Health on e-wheels” project, which aims to put electric mobility at the service of hospitals across the country to facilitate access to treatments outside healthcare facilities. This action follows a pilot programme launched at the end of 2023, where three SEAT Ibizas were provided to Barcelona’s Hospital Clínic and four CUPRA Borns were donated to Sant Joan de Déu Hospital to enhance home medical care.

This care model seeks to improve the quality of life for patients and their families by preventing hospital admissions and reducing the impact of conventional treatment. Home healthcare also helps reduce waiting time in hospitals and improves access to medical care for patients in rural areas. In addition, it offers more personalised follow-up for patients with conditions that respond better to treatment in a home environment.

Health, one of SEAT CUPRA Foundation’s pillars

Protecting health is one of the main pillars of the SEAT CUPRA Foundation. Under this priority, initiatives such as “Health on e-wheels” are being developed to bring healthcare where it is most needed, while also promoting sustainable mobility.  In the health field, the Foundation will also support research programs and scholarships for young scientists.

This commitment will be presented on 23 September at the official launch of the SEAT CUPRA Foundation. During the event, which will take place at CASA SEAT, the Foundation’s main areas of activity will be introduced, along with the projects it is currently developing, with a special focus on health and younger generations.
