Creating new opportunities to create a fairer and more committed society. The SEAT CUPRA Foundation has been established with this goal in mind, opening a new chapter in SEAT S.A.’s history and consolidating its commitment to continue contributing to people’s well-being and communities’ progress. Launched today at CASA SEAT, the entity’s headquarters, the SEAT CUPRA Foundation will initially focus its activity on two main areas: healthcare and new generations. At the same time, it will work to make available to society the social legacy of SEAT S.A., a driving force of Spain’s economic and industrial development.
The launch event was attended by Markus Haupt, President of the SEAT CUPRA Foundation and Dr. Patricia Such, who will lead the entity. They were joined by representatives from the organisations involved in the Foundation’s first initiatives: Josep Maria Campistol, General Director of Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, Manel del Castillo, Managing Director of Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona; Òscar Esteban, Director of Tot Raval Foundation; and María Feliu, Vice-Rector for Dissemination of the University of Barcelona.
“Today we take a very special step forward with the launch of the SEAT CUPRA Foundation, an ambitious project born with the purpose of giving back to society everything we have received from it over our 75-year history,” said Markus Haupt, President of the SEAT CUPRA Foundation. “We want to transform the present while imagining the future, inspiring young people to lead without fear. With this Foundation, we reaffirm our commitment to the well-being and development of our country's society." he added.
“Taking care of our well-being must be easy and accessible to everyone. At the SEAT CUPRA Foundation, we want to help bring medical care to where it is most needed and support young scientists with scholarships and research programmes,” said Dr. Patricia Such, Director of the SEAT CUPRA Foundation. "We believe in the talent of the new generations and their power to change the world. Our aspiration is to promote new opportunities for young people that make a real difference in their lives," she added.
Health, key to society’s transformation
The SEAT CUPRA Foundation has already launched its first health-related initiatives through the “Health on e-wheels” project. The Foundation recently donated two CUPRA Borns and two CUPRA Tavascans to the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona to facilitate the mobility of medical professionals to patients’ homes. This initiative, which will be expanded throughout the rest of the year with the donation of 100% electric vehicles to new hospitals in Barcelona and Catalonia, promotes both in-home medical care and sustainable mobility. In addition, the Foundation is working to develop research programmes and scholarships for young scientists, equipping them with the necessary skills to lead innovative projects in health.
This commitment to health is part of SEAT S.A.'s 75-year history. Since its creation, the company has been a pioneer in integrating health into its corporate culture, offering in-house medical assistance. The company has also played a major role in decisive moments in recent history. During the COVID-19 pandemic, for example, SEAT S.A. rallied to support society by manufacturing emergency ventilators and collaborating with health authorities to vaccinate thousands of people.
New generations: Driving the future
With the aim of supporting new generations, the SEAT CUPRA Foundation has launched the Impulse Program: Raval initiative, which seeks to be a catalyst for transformation in Barcelona’s Raval neighbourhood. This project aims to promote community involvement and ensure equal educational opportunities for young people in vulnerable situations in the area. In collaboration with the University of Barcelona and the Tot Raval Foundation, an academic chair will be established to analyse the challenges faced by young people in the Raval, alongside a social action plan to reduce the school dropout rate.
The SEAT CUPRA Foundation also fosters creative talent in cinema through The Dream Makers, in collaboration with the Catalan School of Film and Audiovisuals (ESCAC) and J.A. Bayona. This initiative has already provided funding for young filmmakers to produce two short films, as well as a scholarship for film studies at the school.
Following the announcement of its creation in March this year, the presentation of the SEAT CUPRA Foundation in Barcelona, home to its first initiatives, marks the beginning of a new era of social commitment. With a clear vision for the future and a transformative spirit, the Foundation will continue to develop projects that create real opportunities for those who need them most and will progressively broaden its field of action to other regions of Spain, while working to expand the social legacy of SEAT S.A. with society.
