Oscar de Pedro has been appointed as Head of Public Affairs and Institutional Funds at SEAT & CUPRA. In this role, De Pedro will be responsible for driving the company’s and the Group’s relations with public institutions and organizations across the Iberian Peninsula, as well as leading projects linked to public funding. He will report directly to Dr. Patricia Such, director of Public Affairs and Corporate Operations at SEAT & CUPRA and will combine this new position with his current responsibilities as Project Management Officer of the F3 Grouping.

“Thanks to public-private collaboration, we are accelerating the electrification of our company and the entire country. In this decisive year, in which we will begin the production of electric vehicles in Martorell, it is essential to continue working together to achieve our goal: making electromobility accessible to everyone. Oscar’s appointment provides an additional boost, as his extensive experience, strategic business vision and deep understanding of the country’s institutional and corporate landscape will enable us to keep moving forward towards an electric future,” said Dr. Patricia Such, director of Public Affairs and Corporate Operations at SEAT & CUPRA.

This appointment comes at a key moment as the company approaches the final phase of its transformation. The launch of the CUPRA Raval will mark the start of production for the Brand Group Core’s Electric Urban Car Family within the Volkswagen Group. As the leader of this project, SEAT & CUPRA has established and strengthened partnerships with key stakeholders, including public administrations, institutions, and social and business organizations, which will enable the company to turn Spain into a hub of electromobility in Europe.

Leadership based on achievements

An industrial engineer from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Oscar de Pedro also holds an MBA in Business Administration from ESADE. He joined the company in 2000 through the Trainee programme and has since built a solid career, holding key positions across product development, commercial and project management in various countries and sites within the Group.

He began his career in the R&D department in Martorell, a period that included a three-year assignment in Wolfsburg (Germany) within the Volkswagen Group, where he gained in-depth insight into the organisation’s global operations before taking on the role of Head of Lighting at SEAT’s Technical Centre.

Subsequently, in the commercial area, he held roles as Regional Manager across multiple markets (the United Kingdom, Austria, Switzerland, the Nordic countries, Mexico, Latin America and the Middle East), strengthening his multicultural perspective and his ability to manage business in diverse environments. As Product Manager, he led the project of the first CUPRA standalone model, the CUPRA Formentor, as well as the current Leon family, contributing to the success of the new brand and ensuring the achievement of the company’s strategic objectives.

In 2022, he took on the responsibility of leading the Future: Fast Forward project, through which SEAT & CUPRA, together with the Volkswagen Group and its partners in the F3 Grouping, have driven electromobility in Spain with a historic investment of 10 billion euros. Of this total, 3 billion euros have been allocated exclusively to the electrification of Martorell, which is now positioned as a flexible factory capable of producing 100% electric, hybrid and efficient combustion models for different Volkswagen Group brands, offering the best of both worlds to meet customer needs. This transformation reinforces Martorell’s position as the Group's third largest production plant in Europe, responsible for approximately 25% of the vehicles manufactured in Spain, with the aim of reaching a maximum capacity of 600,000 units per year, of which up to 300,000 could be electric vehicles (BEVs) in the future.
