SEAT S.A. recorded its best-ever sustainability results in 2024, driven by its continued reduction in CO2 emissions and water consumption. Improved production processes, SEAT S.A.'s commitment to electrification, and the effectiveness of strategic environmental projects continue to drive the company's sustainability, leading to the reduction of the environmental impact of its facilities by 57% since 2010.

"We are keeping sustainability at the heart of our transformation because we know it's the right path, not only for the future of the company, but also for future generations and the planet," said Markus Haupt, Interim CEO of SEAT and CUPRA and Executive Vice President of Production and Logistics. "We are very proud of the results achieved in 2024. Our goal is to reach carbon neutrality at our facilities by 2040, in line with the Volkswagen Group's strategy, while we continue working to minimise our emissions and water and energy use."

Another record year for sustainability

SEAT S.A. continues to advance toward more sustainable production, and its efforts to reduce its environmental impact are reflected in the record results achieved in 2024. The results in terms of decarbonization are significant: SEAT S.A. has reduced CO2 emissions at its facilities by 75% since 2010, representing an 18% improvement compared to 2023. These results confirm the effectiveness of the electrification process the company is carrying out, which affects both its products and facilities.

In 2024, the company also maintained its commitment to efficient water use, and additional measures were implemented that have allowed it to achieve a record low, consuming 55% less than in 2010. In a 2024 marked by the drought in Catalonia, SEAT S.A. reduced its water consumption by 18% compared to the previous year. The company has also improved its energy consumption by 37% since 2010, a reduction complemented by the use of 100% renewable electricity in all activities since 2012. Furthermore, SEAT S.A. has managed to reduce the generation of waste sent to treatment facilities for disposal by 78% and solvent emissions by 45% since records began.

Electrification as part of our commitment to the planet

SEAT S.A. is continuously working to optimize its processes and implement actions and initiatives to improve its sustainability impact. Continuing its electrification journey, in 2024 the company added innovations in its production processes, such as the new KTL paint drying oven, the first 100% electric oven in the Volkswagen Group, which prevents the emission of 2,500 tons of CO2 per year. It also provided employees with more than 170,000 hours of training to prepare for the transition to electrification and implemented the use of electrified vehicles across the company's entire management team.

SEAT S.A.'s commitment to sustainability will continue to advance in 2025 with the launch of the SEAT al Sol 2 project, the expansion of the company's solar plant. This facility will feature 49,000 new solar panels on a surface area of 272,000 square metres in Martorell, El Prat, and Barcelona, and will generate 38 gigawatt hours (GWh). Furthermore, in the first months of the year, the electric vehicle charging infrastructure at the company's facilities was doubled with the installation of 128 new stations, and the charging network around Martorell is being improved with the installation of public chargers.

SEAT S.A.'s portfolio continues to expand its electrified model offering, providing more sustainable, efficient mobility solutions tailored to the needs of all drivers. In 2024, CUPRA—the unconventional challenger brand—launched the largest product offensive in its history, with the World Premiere of the new CUPRA León and CUPRA Formentor; the launch of the CUPRA Tavascan, its first 100% electric SUV coupé; and the arrival of the CUPRA Terramar, the sporty SUV and finalist for the ‘2025 European Car of the Year’ award. In addition, the brand unveiled a more powerful version of its first all-electric model: the CUPRA Born VZ. SEAT S.A. also leads the Volkswagen Group's Electric Urban Car family and, starting in 2026, will add the CUPRA Raval, the first electric model produced at the Martorell plant, to its portfolio.

Sustainability as a Strategic Pillar

Sustainability is one of the main pillars of SEAT S.A.'s corporate strategy. In the environmental field, SEAT S.A. is committed to decarbonization, resource conservation and ecosystem preservation as its main lines of action. Since 2010, the company has measured the environmental impact of its facilities using five key indicators in the production process, established by the Volkswagen Group. These indicators measure the environmental efficiency of industrial processes and are calculated for each vehicle produced, facilitating comparison and monitoring of year-over-year progress. 2024 saw the company achieve its best ever results, surpassing those achieved the previous year, which were also record-breaking.
