This is how the first electric car designed, developed and manufactured at the Martorell plant is being made

  • The factory has adapted 160,000 m² to accommodate production of the CUPRA Raval ahead of its market launch this summer
  • Its design, performance and CUPRA DNA are among the standout features of this urban electric car

We know everything about its design, we’ve had a close look at its development, and now it’s time to discover its innovative manufacturing process. The CUPRA Raval has gone into production, marking the start of a new chapter in CUPRA’s growth. With its market launch scheduled for the summer, the first electric car designed, developed and manufactured at the Martorell plant is ready to redefine electric mobility and win over even the most sceptical with its striking design, electrifying performance and sporty DNA. But before it hits the streets, how would you like to follow this urban electric car along the production line? This is how it comes to life.

AN ELECTRIFYING PROCESS

The Martorell plant is ready for a new chapter. Following an unprecedented transformation that saw nearly 160,000 m² of the factory's space adapted, Line 1 is now operating in full swing to bring the CUPRA Raval, a model set to change the rules, to life. Starting with the smallest component, the car takes shape as it moves along the production line thanks to refurbished facilities, a team trained in electrification, 1,000 new robots and a completely updated and optimised process. Below are some of the new features in the production of the CUPRA Raval:

  • PXL press: one of the most advanced, powerful and efficient in the world, producing four million parts a year.
  • Absolute inline measurement: pioneering technology in Europe comprising four robots with cameras and six sensors that check and calibrate the vehicle’s measurements.
  • Titan robots: standing 2.5 metres tall, they are the largest in the factory, capable of supporting a weight of up to 1,000 kg and responsible for assembling the car’s side panels to the chassis.
  • Laser cabin: one of the fastest in the Group, featuring state-of-the-art technology for roof welding.
  • New painting processes, such as the KTL oven, the first electric oven at the facility, with zero CO2 emissions, which allows colours such as Iridescent Plasma and Manganese Matt to be used to their full potential.
  • Battery: produced at the battery systems assembly plant, it travels over a 600-metre covered bridge and joins the car platform and the electric motor for installation in the bodywork.

True to the brand’s disruptive spirit, the CUPRA Raval rolls off the production line ready to turn heads. It’s time to follow it in its natural habitat: the streets. A new era has arrived.
