As a Title Partner of the newly announced “2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E‑Prix”, CUPRA reinforces its leadership in electric performance and plays a key role in making electrification more accessible and engaging for people across Spain
CUPRA today announced its role as Title Partner of the first Formula E race in the Spanish capital, officially named the “2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E‑Prix”. Joining forces with the championship, the brand helps bring the world’s leading electric racing championship to Madrid for the first time. On 21 March 2026, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will stage the inaugural event at Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE, boosting the visibility of electric mobility and positioning Madrid as a global stage for high‑performance, sustainable competition.
The announcement comes at a decisive moment for the brand, as CUPRA prepares for the imminent launch of the CUPRA Raval, its most radical interpretation of the electric urban car. Born in Barcelona and designed to challenge convention, the CUPRA Raval brings CUPRA’s emotional, performance‑driven DNA into the urban arena with striking design, sharp handling and an unmistakably rebellious attitude. Its presence at the 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E‑Prix will offer fans an early encounter with a car conceived to deliver a sharp, go‑kart‑like driving experience in the city and beyond, reinforcing CUPRA’s mission to make electrification more emotional, progressive and exciting, both on the racetrack and on the streets.
Held at CUPRA City Garage Madrid, the event brought together Spanish motorsport journalist Miguel Portillo with Markus Haupt, CEO of CUPRA; José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid; Mariano de Paco Serrano, Regional Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Community of Madrid; Alberto Longo, Co‑Founder of Formula E and Chief Championship Officer; Xavi Serra, Global Head of CUPRA Racing; Pepe Martí, CUPRA KIRO driver, and Carmelo Sanz de Barros, President of RACE and the FIA Senate. The discussions explored how this collaboration helped bring Formula E to Madrid, what this milestone means for both the city and the championship, and CUPRA KIRO’s outlook for the season.
- “The arrival of Formula E in Madrid represents a new benchmark for Spain. As Title Partner of the first‑ever race in the city, officially named the ‘2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E‑Prix', we are bringing the thrill and emotion of the world’s most exciting electric racing competition to a broader audience. This is another step in our mission to push electrification at every level, from the streets to the racetrack. It is also a key moment for our brand and for the CUPRA KIRO racing team. We are ambitious: we want to keep winning and we want Spain to embrace electric mobility, and we are convinced that adding Madrid to the Formula E calendar will help us achieve both.”
Markus Haupt, CEO of CUPRA
- “We are the world capital of motorsports. There are three cities in the world that will be able to host both Formula E and Formula 1 in the same year: Mexico City, Monaco, and Madrid. Formula E has arrived in Madrid to stay. A competition that reaches 192 countries and will allow us to project to the world the image of a legendary circuit such as the Jarama-RACE, while continuing to convey the image of an open, vibrant city full of energy and deeply committed to the values of sport.”
José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid
- “The 2026 CUPRA Raval E-Prix Madrid will turn Madrid into the setting for one of the most innovative events in motor racing, bringing together teams, drivers and fans from all over the world. This is further proof that the Community of Madrid is a global benchmark in the world of sport. 2026 will be the Year of Sports Tourism for the region, which will be boosted by the celebration of more than 400 events, including the return of Formula 1, with an estimated economic impact of €1 billion in tourist activity."
Mariano de Paco Serrano, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Community of Madrid
- “Spain’s love for motorsports and racing tradition have been decisive in choosing Madrid as one of the locations for the 2026 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. CUPRA’s support has been fundamental and having them on board as a Title Partner of the 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E‑Prix amplifies our commitment to bringing world-class racing to the capital city for the first time.”

CUPRA KIRO: DRIVING THE FUTURE OF ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE
The arrival of Formula E in Madrid in 2026 will also mark the first time the CUPRA KIRO team will race in Spain. In the current 2025/26 season, the team has already kicked off its campaign with a strong presence at the Mexico City E-Prix and Miami E-Prix. Building on the standout performances and milestone victory achieved during the 2024/25 season, CUPRA KIRO now looks ahead with renewed ambition. Pepe Martí, one of Spain’s most exciting rising talents, was present at the CUPRA City Garage event, where he expressed his enthusiasm for the current season and the challenges ahead. The line‑up is completed by Dan Ticktum, who is competing alongside Martí.
- “I am proud to represent CUPRA KIRO at a time when electric racing is making history. Formula E is competing in the world’s most important global cities, and racing as a team in Madrid for the first time will be one for the books.”
Pepe Martí, Formula E driver at CUPRA KIRO Team
- “CUPRA KIRO has entered the new Formula E season from a position of real confidence and momentum. Last year was transformational for us and once we found our operational rhythm, we proved that we could convert performance into results, including our first pole position, podium, and win. That journey has put us in a far stronger position and has allowed us to hit the ground running this season. Our focus now is on consistency: not just showing strength on our best days, but at every race weekend. We want to build on our achievements, challenge the established order, and take another meaningful step forward as a team.”
Russell O’Hagan, Team Principal at CUPRA KIRO
The 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E‑Prix will feature a strong CUPRA presence, with the CUPRA Raval taking centre stage throughout the weekend. Fans will be able to experience exclusive sneak peeks of the brand’s new urban electric car, alongside a range of interactive activations within the Fan Village designed to bring CUPRA’s vision, innovation and racing spirit closer to the public.
- “The 2026 CUPRA Raval Madrid E‑Prix is not only an outstanding milestone for motorsport in Spain, but also a powerful demonstration of the role that racing plays in driving technological innovation, sporting excellence and social engagement. Bringing world class competitions to the Circuito de Madrid Jarama-RACE and our country strengthens our sporting culture and reaffirms our country’s place at the heart of global motorsport, and CUPRA has played an essential role in making it possible.”
Carmelo Sanz de Barros, President of the Real Automotive Spanish Club and the FIA Senate
